Design II: Motion
Material has logic
Material is always dynamic and has agency. By manipulating the shape and structure of material we can explore and observe the behaviour and resistance of a material.
Paper stripes are transformed through rolling, crumpling and folding into small voluminous shapes. When dropped or placed onto a surface they reveal their motion. It is possible to guide the speed, duration and direction of motion.
Material properties can be transformed through the change of their structure and form, as there always is a structure-function-relationship.

a b c
Sample a: crumpled: While opening up slowly it randomly jumps into one direction.
Sample b: rolled: Rolls into one direction and opens up spiralling and turns in the opposite direction if was rolled/shaped.
Sample c: folded: Always tips over to the same side to find a stand and opens up in length.
